The London Borough of Enfield announced a £1.2bn contract and major new joint venture partnership with Build Excellence, which will see 11 Council estates regenerated to provide over 3,000 homes in Enfield, London, over the next 12 years.

Enfield's current council housing will be renovated as part of the project. The regeneration will expand council rented housing by 70% and build 400 low-cost properties. This initiative provides much-needed affordable housing for borough residents that are affordable on local income levels by increasing the amount of affordable housing on the 12 estates.

• This scheme will replace the Council's current stock of 966 homes with 3,112 mixed-tenure residences, creating more integrated communities
• This is a unique initiative as all Council financing for the project will come from the Housing Revenue Account (HRA). This is in addition to Build Excellence and the GLA funding
• Enfield will receive a £33 million grant from the GLA to build new estates with 40% affordable housing
• Every existing resident on the estates being regenerated has the right to return. Any housing that needs to be rebuilt will be rebuilt on a like-for-like basis to ensure that current affordable housing is not lost.
