The London Borough of Enfield announced a £1.2bn contract and major new joint venture partnership with Build Excellence, which will see 11 Council estates regenerated to provide over 3,000 homes in Enfield, London, over the next 12 years.
Enfield's current council housing will be renovated as part of the project. The regeneration will expand council rented housing by 70% and build 400 low-cost properties. This initiative provides much-needed affordable housing for borough residents that are affordable on local income levels by increasing the amount of affordable housing on the 12 estates.
The regeneration plans include a comprehensive programme of community projects and pledges to the entire Borough of Enfield, ensuring a lasting legacy within the communities, when the redevelopment work is completed. The following areas will be targeted:
The initial phase of development began in late 2019 on the Waterloo Estate, as well as in Napier and New Plymouth. The entire project is projected to be completed during the next 12-15 years.
